So this Miata is up for sale for $2500. Hard top, roll bar, and vmaxx coilover kit from flying Miata with sway bars front and rear. And rust.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I figure I could buy it for a little less than he's asking, swap the coilovers and sway bars for stock on my car, sell the car top separate, and sell the car and make my money back. Yes? No? Anyone with vmaxx experience?

Yes, provided the Miata is running fine and isn’t rusted underneath (near rear drain tubes and front of the frame near the front shocks where it’s double-walled), you can flip this Miata easy for like $1500 as a running donor car for someone wanting 6-speed, VVT, and 3.9 Torsen. Hardtop alone is $1k if it’s not cracked.

The kit from flying Miata is about 1200, so I need to be well below that difference to justify used parts. Not sure if I want the roll bar, I don’t fit under them with stoc k seats.

Even if you don’t make your money back you will have bought all those parts at a hefty discount.

Yeah, it’s a great deal. Top alone should make back most of the money.
The rust also looks fixable if you’re feeling brave.

I'd just be in it for the quick flip and parts. Rust is the next guy's problem.

Man, I hate Vmaxxx coilovers. Unless its the FM kit, which Ive heard good things about, but Vmaxxx coilovers on their own, ugh....

It is the fm kit, but I'd use them for autocross. What didn't you like?

Ive never tried the FM version, but the regular Vmaxxx kit is bouncy as hell. I havent had it happen to me personally, but have read an awful lot of stories of people either crashing or losing control due to shoddy pavement, in a corner, because of the coilovers. Its not hard to believe.

There’s a lot of parts there beyond the suspension parts
- hardtops go for quite a bit
, the rollbar is worth plenty and the Torsen is probably worth a fair bit - I’ve seen them go for a grand alone
(though with the miles it might need some attention). The door shutlines are good
, so the car is likely savable if you’re handy with a welder.
It probably depends on how much value you put on your time in all the swaps. And dealing with CL people on a sub-2K car. You might actually be better to strip the whole car for parts
rather than sell it.
I might be interested in
the hard or soft top as my plastic rear window is a sea of electrical
tape at the moment. Kids have stolen all my cash for various activities
since it’s the start of the school year but I could probably do $500 on the hard top (I have a Montego Blue
so it’s sort of the exact wrong color)
. But
you could easily
get much
more than that (1K easily)
if you can put up with Craigslist people and found someone who needed that exact
color top.

I’d be interested in that roll bar and maybe the top if you sold them off

How much? Top definitely would get sold, roll bar maybe. If I throw in the coil overs, I’m out of street class, dobi could drop in a racing bucket to fit below the bar. Not sure. But hel l, make this an Oppo buy in sounds appealing....

I’m not too familiar with what they go for, that being said I could do something like $250 for the roll bar.

That’s about right. I'll let you know.
